Tamara Thomas

Piano

Step 1: Meet Your Teacher

Tamara's dream has always been to teach children music. That idea took shape as a kid in Russia, where she studied in one of the most storied and rigorous music education systems in the world. She specializes in taking students from their very first lesson into adulthood. “It's not just about playing piano — music opens your soul and lights up your brain.”

What lessons are like: High standards, held gently. Tamara meets each kid where they are, choosing music that keeps them engaged while still building real fundamentals — theory, scales, discipline.

Great for: students just starting out (age 7, or a mature 6 year old) ideally as their first piano teacher · families wanting nurturing paired with real skill · kids ready for lasting discipline at a steady, warm pace

Background: Tamara trained at the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music in St. Petersburg, a conservatory with a pedigree few schools in the world can match — its alumni include Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, and Prokofiev. Tamara has lived in Maine since 2003 and is also the organist for the EOCC church in Orrington.
