Kevin Morse

Kevin was drawn to the guitar at age eight. By age ten he was playing in rock band . Once he even had to leave a little league game to play a gig with the band. At thirteen he met Stanley Watson. Watson was a Spanish trained master who was a genius of technique. Kevin became his protege and lived with the Watson's for ten years. Stanley taught Kevin that execution skills are the key and can only be developed with patience and hard work. He taught Kevin early on that it's not what you play, it's how you play and that the classical guitar technique is a form of professional athletics Fifty years later, Kevin still teaches that same approach — Stanley's Method — and he lights up every time he talks about it. “The most important thing at this point in my life is teaching,” said Kevin.

What lessons are like:
Kevin teaches a systematic progressive method that can guide the student to a very high level of accomplishment. His approach is learning a series of exercises over time that develop the skills needed to produced a beautiful sound and have physical command of the instrument. The goal is never the drill, it's the payoff: Playing Music in proper time! He builds every student around their strengths, asks for a minimum of 10 minutes of practice a day, and believes, “music should never be a competition. It should be shared."

Background:
In 1992, Kevin won a world wide competition , sponsored by Guitar Player Magazine, earning the title "Ultimate Classical Guitarist" against a field of players from across the U.S. and Europe. He's spent his career teaching Stanley Watson’s Method, a systematic, progressive approach passed down from the the traditional Spanish school of classical guitar technique.
